The Founders of England Box Lacrosse

Jamie Tasko

Jamie Tasko founded England Box Lacrosse with the help of Peter Dunits and Joe Darkins, in London, 2001.

As a player Tasko saw domestic success with Purley during their domineering early 00’s run. In the national box game he could be seen taking speedy draws and making wily moves on the attacking end.

Joe Darkins

Joe was the first of many English players to convert from a goal scorer in field to an athletic defender in the box paving the way for field lacrosse players taking to the box game. As a domestic field player he won many SEMLA titles with Spencer, a winning mentality he brought to the national box team. Unlike Peter & Jamie, Joe learnt his lacrosse in England, at the powerhouse of Cheadle lacrosse club. We hope many other English lacrosse players will follow in Joe’s footsteps, adapting field fundamentals to the box.

Peter Dunits

Pete, or “PD” as he’s known by team mates is the final member of the three team mates who started England Box Lacrosse. Pete played his club lacrosse at Hampstead in SEMLA, enjoying domestic success and competing against Tasko and Darkins throughout his career. Upon founding the England Box team Pete became a mainstay in the offensive side of the floor, earning caps in 2007, 2011 and 2015. Tragically, Pete died in 2025 due to a heart attack.
